Help us to protect our wetlands

What to do, and not do, in protected areas
The Jæren wetlands offer wonderful experiences in nature, but remember that special rules apply in nature reserves. You must keep to established paths, especially where the vegetation is vulnerable to damage by trampling, such as in the back dunes along the Jæren coast. Other rules include: • It is prohibited to disturb all animal and bird life • Hunting and trapping is prohibited • All vegetation is protected • Camping and motorised vehicles are prohibited • Road and other building work, as well as drainage, are prohibited • Dogs must be kept on a lead

Do you want to find out more about wetlands?

The Jæren Wetlands Visitor Centre was established in 2012 and organises educational and other events, as well as exhibitions. The Centre operates three sites; the Lighthouse at Kvassheim in Hå, the Orre outdoor centre in Klepp and the Mostun Nature Centre in Stavanger.

You must follow special rules in protected areas. This photo is taken in Grannesbukta cove. Photo: Erik Thoring
